What is a bruit?
Vascular murmur - abnormal sound generated by turbulent blood flow in an artery with due to partial obstruction or localised high blood flow in an unobstructed artery.
What is aortic insufficency?
Aortic regurgitation.
Leaking of aortic valve of heart allowing blood to flow in the wrong direction from the aorta into the left ventricle during ventricular diastole.
What is Horner’s Syndrome?
Miosis - constricted pupil
Ptosis - Weak, droopy eyelid.
Anhydrosis - decreased sweating.
With/without enophthalmost - inset eyeball.
What causes Horner’s syndrome?
Combination of symptoms occuring when the sympathetic trunk is damages.
Consider:
Pancoast tumour - tumour in apex of lung or Internal Carotid artery aneurysm.
What clinical sign does this image show?

Can see miosis and partial ptosis.
What clinical sign is this?

Peripheral cyanosis
What is cogwheel rigidity?
Jerky resistance to passive movement - combination of increased muscle one and tremour. Jerky resistance as muscles contract and relax.
What is hemiplegia?
Paralysis on one side of the body
What is this clinical sign?

Exophthalmos - bulging or protuding eyeball. Also called proptosis.
What is this clinical sign?

Ptosis - drooping or falling of upper eyelid.
