1 non-music technique and explanation of it’s clinical application for this population
Reframing could be used to encourage clients to see that the pain or fatigue they are feeling is just part of the disease process and the body healing itself to reduce anxiety and worry
Medical
1 MT intervention explanation including support for its use with this population - EBP
Singing a client-preferred song and improvising lyrics that provide support during a medical procedure.
This intervention with this population is supported in a 2006 Journal of Music Therapy Article titled Effects of Music Therapy on Pediatric Patients’ Pain and Anxiety During Donor Site Dressing Change which proved that this intervention had no immediate affect but anxiety was proven to be reduced from middle to end. Also by self reporting relaxation and pain reduction.
