Mediastinum Flashcards
1
Q
Fossa ovalis
A
Remnant of the foramen ovale
-In RA, to the right of interatrial septum
2
Q
What are the muscles found in the Right atrium, right auricle, left auricle
A
Pectinate muscles
3
Q
What is the terminal crest?
A
Muscular ridge in right atria that separates it into two parts
4
Q
What are the two parts of the atria that are separated by the terminal crest
A
- Venous sinus - has openings for cavas, coronary sinus
2. Atrium proper - rough, anterior wall with pectinate muscles
5
Q
Describe the Right Ventricle
A
- Separated into 2 parts by supraventricular crest
- Right ventricle proper - inflow channel ant/post/septal papillary muscles, valve, chordae tendinae ,
- Conus arteriousus - smooth outflow channel; blood is pumped into pulmonary trunk
6
Q
Describe the left ventricle
A
Two parts:
- Left ventricle proper - inflow channel - ant/post papillary muscles, valve, chordae tendinae, receives blood from LA
- Aortic vestibule - outflow channel - smooth - blood flows to aorta
7
Q
Which atria is smaller in size but thicker walled than the other
A
Left atrium
