What is the purpose of media readers?
They are required by tablets, smartphones and cameras to do a number of things. This includes storing information, music, videos, pictures and data.
What media reader formats are there?
Secure Digital (SD). MicroSD. MiniSD. CompactFlash. Memory Stick. xD.
What were SD cards designed for?
For use in portable devices such as cameras, mp3 players and laptops. They can hold up to 2TB of data.
What are microSD cards?
Much smaller form of SD used for smartphones and tablets.
what are miniSD cards?
Cards between SD and microSD. They were developed for mobile phones.
What are CompactFlash cards?
An older format still in wide use for its good storage capacity. Used for video cameras.
What are memory sticks used in?
Developed by Sony.
Proprietary flash memory used in cameras, mp3 players, hand held video game systems, mobile phones and more.
What is xD?
Otherwise known as Picture Card. It was used in some digital cameras.
