mechanics-linear/projectile motion Flashcards
What is displacement ?
straight line length from start to end.
what is velocity ?
rate of change of displacement per second.
what is acceleration ?
rate of change of velocity per second.
what would the velocity of a object traveling in a circle be after one cycle ?
0 because the displacement is 0 because start and end is the same point.
What is the gradient of a displacement-time graph ?
velocity.
What does it mean when the gradient is always changing on a displacement-time graph ?
The system is accelerating/deccelerating.
what is the gradient on a velocity-time graph ?
acceleration.
What does it mean when the gradient is always changing on a velocity-time graph ?
changing acceleration.
what is freefall ?
when a objects weight is the only force acting upon it.
What is acceleration due to gravity ?
9.81ms^-2
At when is the velocity 0 of a bouncing ball ?
when it reaches its peaks.
What is the area underneath a velocity time graph ?
displacement.
What is the suvat not given on the equation sheet ?
s=vt-1/2at^2
When can you not use suvats ?
When acceleration is changing.
For projectile motion why can s=d/t be used for horizontal component of velocity ?
Because there is no horizontal acceleration.
