Mebeverine Capsules Flashcards

1
Q

In the directions for use section of the PIL, one instruction to the patient is to swallow the capsule whole and not to chew it. Why is this?

A

If it is chewed the modified release will be broken and therefore the capsule will become instant release which could result in an overdose.

Q

In general, when making capsules extemporaneously why would you need to add a diluent?

A

Certain fluids are too viscous to be pumped easily or too dense to flow from one particular point to the other. To ease this restricted movement, diluents are added.
