Mebeverine Capsules Flashcards

If it is chewed the modified release will be broken and therefore the capsule will become instant release which could result in an overdose.

This formulation means the patient needs to take the medication less frequently as it is a modified release tablet.
What is the function of titanium dioxide in the formation and why is it important to the formation?
It is a pigment to make the formation more appetizing.
These capsules are made from gelatin. Identify TWO groups of people for which gelatin may be unsuitable?
- vegetarians and vegans
* due to religious reasons (eg Jews can’t eat pork)
In general, when making capsules extemporaneously why would you need to add a diluent?

- Punch- pressing capsule into pile of mixture,
* Capsule machines- use trays to hold capsule
