What does level of development mean?

A

A country’s wealth (measured by it’s GDP), and its social and political progress. (EG its education, health care of democratic process in which everyone can vote freely).

How do you calculate the HDI?

A

The HDI consists of one figure per country, between 0 and 1 (the higher the better). It is calculated using an average of four indicators: life expectancy, education - literacy, education - average length of schooling and GDP per capita.

What does The Corruption Perceptions Index do?

A

They help investors work out where their money is safe. Or used a scale from 10 (honest) to 0 (very corrupt). In corrupt countries, investors money is likely to be used to bribe officials, or purchase weapons.
