Measurements Flashcards
Length
Measures a distance or dimension
Volume
Is the amount of space occupied by a substance
Mass
Measure of the quantity of materials it contains
Temperature
The measurement of the degree of hotness or coldness of an object.
Exact number
Numbers obtained by counting. Numbers known with certainty.
Scientific Notation
used to express very large or very small numbers.
Significant Figures
meaningful digits of a measurement
Density
amount of mass per unit volume
Measured numbers
Numbers that are obtained using a tool.
Two types of data collection
Quantitative- numbers with units
Qualitative- non-numerical data (color, phases)
Accuracy
How close the results are to the actual answer.
Precision
How close the results are to each other.
getting same result for multiple trials
