What is an estimate?
An approximate calculation.
What does ‘measure’ mean?
Using an instrument to determine size.
What is a unit of measurement?
A standard amount of a physical quantity.
What is volume?
The amount of 3D space occupied by an object.
What does pace mean?
To measure by taking equal sized steps.
What is area?
The extent of a 2 dimensional surface
What is an awning?
A covered framework that provides some protection from rain or sun.
What is galvanised sheeting?
A thin strip of metal which is pressed into sheets and zinc coated to prevent rust.
What is riveted?
Held together by metal pins called rivets.
What is effective length?
The shortened length caused by a sheet overlapping with the next sheet.
What is mortar?
A mixture of cement or lime or both with sand and water, used as a bond between bricks or stones or as a covering on a wall.
What is a skip?
A large metal container that can be filled with rubble and then transported away.
What is adhesive?
A substance used for sticking substances together such as glue or cement.
What is plaster?
A mixture of sand and cement applied to a wall to seal it, protect it and create a smooth surface for painting.
What is a carport?
A framework with a covering over it that provides cover for a vehicle.
