Opisometer
An opisometre can be used to measure short curved lines for example
Measuring length
A metre stick or ruler measures straight lines
Trundle wheel
Used to measure long curved lengths for example around a flower bed
Vernier callipers
To find the diameter or width of a solid object for example marble or piece of pipping
Measuring area
Area is how much space something covers and is length by width
Mass
Mass is the amount of matter in an object and is measured using an electric balance
Volume
Volume tell you how much space something takes up
Volume of an irregular object
Using a graduated cylinder and/or an overflow can
Float
An object will float in a liquid if it is less dense than the liquid and an object will sink if it is more dense than the liquid
Ice
Ice will float on water as it is less dense than water
Speed
The distance travelled per unit time is know as the speed (unit -metres per second)
Velocity
Velocity of an object is a the distance it travels per unit time in a given direction
Acceleration
The change in velocity per second (m/s/s)
