Q

what is the population vs sample tendencys?

A

Population: x or Y are the individuals, N is the number of individuals. X bar is the mean. U is the total of individual values.
Sample- all in lower case. X bar is the sum of individual values over the number of individuals.

Q

What are the issues with the mean?

A

Extreme points can have an influence on the mean. If there is an extreme sample, then the mean will be much higher to the extreme than what it should be. Median value is the average point, and hence would make more sense to use the median in a case like that.
