lifespan perspective
human development is a lifelong process of change from conception to death.
Adolescence
transition period from childhood to adulthood, extending from puberty to independence.
Puberty
the period of sexual maturation during which a person becomes capable of reproducing.
Why are teens emotional?
Limbic systems develop and hormones surge
How do teen’s brains develop?
The prefrontal cortex develops and myelin does too, increasing
selective pruning
select neurones and connections deemed unneccessary are pruned
emerging adulthood
a period of development spanning from about ages 18 to 29, experienced by most people in their twenties
Early adulthood
20 to 39 years of age, characterised by significant life events such as graduation, starting a job, or forming a family.
Middle Adulthood
40 and 65. During this time, people experience many physical changes that signal that the person is aging, including grey hair and hair loss, wrinkles and age spots, vision and hearing loss, and weight gain, commonly called the middle age spread.
Late Adulthood
starts around age 65, is characterised by great changes and ongoing personal development.

People tend to put off dying when there is an event to look forward to. (People die more right after Christmas finished as they want to experience it before death)
