What is first line of treatment for vertigo?

A

Meclizine
Dose: 25 to 50mg q 6-12 hours PRN dizziness
MOA: Suppresses vestibular end-organ receptors and inhibits activation of central cholinergic pathways
Note: May cause CNS depression, which may impair physical or mental abilities; patients must be cautioned about performing tasks which require mental alertness (operating machinery, driving)
