- must have high school diploma, GED, completed 9th grade

600 hours at licensed facility

A
- licensed school approved by MD board or MD Higher Ed. Commission
- apprenticeship at licensed salon or spa

Apprenticeships
A
-20 hours per week, every week no less than 12 mo. taught by licensed esthetician

Testing process
A
- submit registration
- pass written and practical exams w. 75% or higher

Legal Practice of License
A
- cleansing, exercising, masking, stimulating, or performing any other similar procedure on the skin or scalp by electrical mechanical or any other means
- applying alcohol, cream, lotion, astringent
- removing superfluous hair by the use of tweezers or wax

Length of license validity
A
- 2 years
- $25 renewal fee
- 3hrs of training per yr
- if license expires for more than 5 years: must retake theory and practical

- display and carry license with a current photo affixed to it
- keep address and place of business up to date

- Regulate cosmetologists, hair stylists, estheticians, barbers, nail technicians

- 4 licensed cosmetologists w. at least 5 years of experience
- 1 is owner or educator of a licensed facility
- 2 non-licensed consumers

A
- may serve 3 YEARS on the board
