Direct maternal death - define
Death as a consequence of a disorder specific to pregnancy.
Eg, VTE, PET, genital tract sepsis, suicide
Indirect maternal death - define
Deaths resulting from an existing disease or diseases that developed during pregnancy and which were not due to direct obstetric causes but aggravated by pregnancy.
Eg. Cardiac disease, covid 19, neurological
Late maternal death
> 42 days PP but < 1 year
