Q

What are the 3 steps involved in making the C-C bond?

A

1) Acetyl group is transferred to KS via ACP and MAT
2) Malonyl group is transferred to ACP via MAT
3) KS joins together the malonyl and acetyl group (CO2 is lost)

Q

What is step 2 of this process?

A

- Molecule is transferred back to KS (more C added)

Q

What occurs in step 3 and 4?

A
  1. Alpha and Beta carbon dehydrated (C-C –> C=C) (Hydroxyl removed)
  2. The double bond is reduced

Q

What are the 5 types of lipoproteins?

A
  1. Chylomicrons
  2. VLDL- Very Low-Density Lipoprotein
  3. IDL- Intermediate Density Lipoprotein
  4. LDL- Low-Density Lipoprotein
