Maxillary Central Incisor Flashcards
Is this tooth wider mesiodistally, or labiolingually?
mesiodistally
What are the mesial and distal HOCs of the central incisors?
Mesial: incisal third -
Distal: between incisal and middle third
What are the facial and lingual HOCs of the central incisors?
Facial: cervical third - Lingual: closer to cervical line
How would you describe the distal surface when compared to the mesial surface?
the distal surface is more rounded and results in a concavity or notch at the CEJ area.
What may be evident on a newly erupted central incisor?
mesial, central, and distal mamelons. they ware off after a few weeks
What does the presence of mamelons in older patients show signs of?
possible malocclusion or anterior open-bite
What characteristic of the facial surface of the central incisor is important to replicate for aesthetic purposes?
the mesial and distal developmental grooves
What do the facial developmental grooves separate?
mesial, central, and distal facial lobes
What does the proximal surface refer to?
mesial or distal surface
how is the incisal ridge positioned with respect to the root?
centrally
Describe the lingual surface of the maxillary central incisor.
It is concave, except for the cervical third which presents a cingulum.
Where is the cingulum on the max. central incisor?
along the lingual cervical line, slightly displaced to the distal
What are the marginal ridges on the central incisors?
marginal ridges are presented on the lingual surface of the tooth, emanating from the cingulum toward the incisal, on the mesio and disto lingual line angles
Which marginal ridge is longer?
the mesial
What is formed by the cingulum, mesio/distolingual marginal ridges, and incisal ridge?
the lingual fossa
