Mandibular Central Incisors Flashcards
Describe the shape of the mandibular central incisors.
The most symmetrical tooth in the mouth. “fan shaped”
Describe the lobes of the mandibular central incisors.
They are hardly evident, or even inexistent.
What do mandibular central incisors have shortly after erupted?
3 mamelons. They ware off very quickly
How is the distal incisal angle in comparison to the mesial?
both are vary similarly shaped
What are the mesial and distal HOCs of the mandibular central incisors?
Incisal third
What are the facial and lingual HOCs of the mandibular central incisors?
close to the cervical line
Describe the lingual anatomy of the mand. central incisors.
the cingulum, marginal ridges, and lingual fossa are very subtle/nonexistent. Use these terms to identify areas on the lingual surface
How is the cervical line of the mesial compared to the distal?
the cervical line of the distal is less curved toward the incisal than that of the mesial (same as max. central and lateral)
Where is the cingulum located?
in the very center of the tooth (cervical lingual area)
What is a common characteristic of the roots of these teeth?
mesial and distal root grooves or depressions. If only one groove, it’s often distal. If both grooves, distal is often more prominent
What is a root cross section of this tooth ofter described as? Why?
a “bow-tie” root cross section ; it is broad bucco-lingually, and narrow mesio-distally.
