Max General Flashcards
How does the Flight Deck door respond to pressurization decompression events?
Flight Deck door may open
Should differential pressure between the Flight Deck and cabin exceed a threshold differential, a pin in the Flight Deck Access System locking mechanism shears to unlock the door and allow the differential pressure to open the door.
NOTE: If the Flight Deck door opens during a Passenger Cabin decompression, the door will not latch normally, but may be secured with the deadbolt.
Can the Flight Deck door be deadbolted?
Yes
The deadbolt lock mechanism, accessible only to the crew, is located on the upper left corner of the door (Flight Deck side). This mechanism provides the following three manual locking options:
* UNLOCKED
* LOCKED KEY OPERABLE - not utilized by Alaska Airlines
* LOCKED KEY INOPERABLE
What is the purpose of the FDAS system?
The FDAS also allows entry to the Flight Deck from the Passenger Cabin in the event of an emergency, such as pilot incapacitation.
The Flight Deck Access System (FDAS) consists of an emergency access panel, chime module, three-position door lock selector, two indicator lights, and an access system switch.
Once closed (with DC bus No. 2 powered), the door is automatically locked with no further crew action required.
When will the overwing emergency exits lock?
- three of the four entry/service doors are closed, and
- either engine is running, and
- the aircraft air/ground logic indicates that the aircraft is in the air or both thrust levers are advanced
The overwing emergency exits unlock when any one of the above conditions is not met or DC power is lost.
How is the failure of the overwing emergency exit Flight Lock System indicated?
MAINT light
These indications are inhibited from the first engine start until 30 seconds after landing.
When will the emergency exit lights illuminate?
If electrical power to DC bus No. 1 fails or if AC power has been removed
The ON position commands the emergency exit lights to illuminate.
Can the aft attendant panel EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHTS switch override Flight Deck control?
Yes
The EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHTS switch on the aft attendants panel may also be used to illuminate the emergency exit lights.
Lifting the guard and pushing the switch ON overrides the Flight Deck control and illuminates the emergency exit lights (even if the Flight Deck EMER EXIT LIGHTS switch is positioned to OFF).
Control from this panel is available in the event of a failure of the automatic control.
What is the purpose of the MUTE switch on the INTERNET - GROUND control panel?
The MUTED switch, when pressed, deactivates the transmit function of the 2Ku
antennas mounted on the upper aft fuselage. This is indicated by:
* MUTED displayed in MUTE switch, and
* NORMAL not displayed in TRANSMIT switch
What conditions must be met in order for the AC-powered air compressor in the Potable Water System to operate?
- pressure in the system is insufficient
- water service panel door is closed
- CAB/UTIL switch is positioned to ON
The electric air compressor is powered from main bus No. 1 and supplies pressurized air to the potable water tank when the pneumatic system is insufficient. In order for the compressor to operate the following conditions must exist:
How is the crew oxygen mask microphone activated?
The mask microphone is enabled when the mask is removed from the stowage box.
Transmission selection is made on ACP.
With the Flight Crew oxygen mask removed from the stowage box (right stowage box door open), the mask microphone is automatically selectedD and the boom microphone is deselected.
When the right stowage box door is closed, the TEST/RESET switch is actuated
and the OXY ON flag is no longer displayed; the mask microphone will be deselected and the boom microphone will be selected.
How is the PASS OXYGEN system activated?
NORMAL, at cabin altitude of 14,000 ft.
When required, the PASS OXYGEN switch may be manually positioned to ON to activate the system.
NOTE: Electrical power is removed from the Passenger Cabin In-Seat Power System when either the cabin altitude is at or above 14,000 ft, or the PASS OXYGEN switch is positioned to ON.
Approximately how long does oxygen flow when the Passenger Oxygen System is activated?
12 minutes and cannot be shut off.
Instructions for the proper use of the oxygen mask will be given automatically over the PA system in English and Spanish.
