Limitations Flashcards
TAKEOFF AND LANDING TAILWIND LIMIT
15 kts for both
Maximum Operating Altitude (ft)
41,000
Maximum Takeoff and Landing Altitude (ft)
8400
Minimum Takeoff/Landing temperature.
-54° C
MAXIMUM OPERATING SPEEDS
Observe VMO/MMO and Gear/Flap Placards
Severe Turbulence Penetration Target Speeds
280 KIAS/.76M (Whichever is lower)
AIR CONDITIONING
With either one or both engine BLEED air switches ON, do not operate air conditioning packs in HIGH for takeoff, approach or landing.
ENGINE ANTI-ICE
The engine anti-ice system must be ON during all ground and flight operations when icing conditions exist or are anticipated, except during climb and cruise below -40°C SAT. Engine anti-ice must be ON prior to and during descent in all icing conditions, including temperatures below -40°C SAT.
(MAX) Engine anti-ice (EAI) must be turned off when not in actual or anticipated icing
conditions.
AUTOPILOT
Do not engage the autopilot below 1000 ft AGL on takeoff. (AFM/ASA)
For single channel operation during approach, the autopilot shall not remain engaged below 50 ft AGL. (AFM).
For manually flown HGS AIII approach, the autopilot shall not remain engaged below 500 ft AGL.
Use of aileron trim with autopilot engaged is prohibited. (AFM)
ENGINES Warm up and cool down
Warm-up: Engines must be operated for a minimum of 3 minutes prior to takeoff.
Cool-down: Engines must be operated at or near idle (taxi thrust acceptable) for a minimum of 3 minutes prior to shutdown.
Maximum Time Limit for Takeoff Thrust
5 minutes*
*10 minutes allowed in the event of the loss of thrust on one engine during takeoff
ENGINE START Switches must be in the CONT position for:
Takeoff
Landing
Anti-ice operation
Operation in hail, sleet or moderate to heavy rain.
ENGINE START Switches must be in the FLT position for
Operation in severe turbulence.
REVERSE THRUST
Intentional selection of reverse thrust in flight is prohibited.
APU LOADS - (Altitudes for Use)
leed and Electric Load 10,000 ft
Bleed Only 17,000 ft
Electric Only 41,000 ft
Maximum Operating Altitude 41,000 ft
APU General
Ensure APU BLEED air switch is closed for 2 minutes after start or for 1 minute prior to shutdown.
NOTE: When the APU switch is moved to OFF, this time delay is met automatically.
APU bleed valve may be open during engine start, but avoid engine power above idle.
Except for engine start, the APU bleed valve must be closed when another source is pressurizing the left bleed air duct.
FLAP LIMITS
Maximum flap extension altitude is 20,000 ft. (AFM)
Holding in icing conditions with flaps extended is prohibited.
SPEED BRAKES
Do not deploy speed brakes in flight below 1000 ft AGL.
In flight, do not extend the SPEED BRAKE lever beyond the FLIGHT DETENT. (AFM)
Do not deploy speed brakes with more than Flaps 10 extended.*
- Although not prohibited, the use of speedbrakes with Flaps 1-10 extended should be avoided as much as possible. The use of speedbrakes with flaps extended increases loads on the trailing edge flaps, resulting in increased wear and tear.
LOAD ALLEVIATION SYSTEM (700W/900ER)
Manually overriding the Load Alleviation System is not authorized.
FUEL TEMPERATURE
Minimum fuel temperature -37°C unless actual fuel freeze point is known.
FUEL BALANCE
Allowable lateral imbalance between main tanks 1 and 2 must be scheduled to be zero.
Transient fuel imbalance must not exceed 1000 lbs for taxi, takeoff, flight or landing.
Main wing tanks must be scheduled to be full if the center tank contains more than 1000 lbs.
CENTER TANK FUEL PUMPS
For ground operation, Center Tank FUEL PUMP switches must not be positioned to ON unless
the Center Tank fuel quantity exceeds 1000 lbs, except when defueling or transferring fuel.
Center Tank Fuel Pumps must not be ON unless personnel are available in the Flight Deck to monitor LOW PRESSURE lights.
For ground and flight operations, the corresponding Center Tank Fuel Pump switch must be positioned OFF when the LOW PRESSURE light illuminates. If the Center Tank is empty, position both Center Tank FUEL PUMP switches OFF
HYDRAULICS
Ground operation of electric hydraulic pump requires minimum 1675 lbs in respective fuel tank.
NOTE: This limitation applies to extended ground operations. It does not apply during taxi-in after landing
MAX Minimum Oil Temp before setting takeoff thrust
31° C (applies only to the MAX)
