Max Communication Flashcards
What does selecting a radio transmitter switch do?
Transmitter selector switches are located on the forward part of each ACP. Transmitter selector switches illuminate when the respective transmitter is active. Only one transmitter may be selected at a time. A microphone is then used to transmit over the selected transmitter. Reception is enabled when a transmitter is selected, regardless of the position of the receiver switch below.
What is the purpose of the ALT-NORM switch on the ACP?
Allows selection of ALT - Degraded mode if ACP malfunctions
ACP transmitter selectors are not functional. The receiver selectors are not functional and only the usable radio is heard at a preset volume, through the headset. The following is also inhibited:
* the speaker and speaker switch
* flight interphone and service interphone
* control wheel PTT and ACP PTT in the INT position
* the hand microphone
* audio warnings for altitude alerts, GPWS, and windshear
* the PA system through the ACP
What is the purpose of the VHF TEST switch?
Removes the automatic squelch feature
Permitting reception of background noise and thereby testing receiver operation. Removing the automatic squelch improves the reception of a weak signal.
What does the white offside tuning light indicate on the RTP?
If any transceiver other than the onside VHF or HF radio is selected, the white offside tuning light will illuminate at the top of the RTP. For example, if VHF 2 is selected on RTP 1, the offside tuning light will illuminate.
What is the indication of a radio failure?
FAIL
The RTP continuously monitors the condition of the transceiver. If the transceiver has failed, the two frequency indicators show FAIL. This indicates a failed radio.
NOTE: The selected frequencies may continue to be displayed in the Frequency Indicator when the radio is not available.
What is the indication of an RTP failure?
PANEL FAIL
The RTP also continuously self-tests. The frequency indicators show PANEL FAIL when there is an internal failure of the RTP.
Which switch is used to key transmission over the selected transmitter?
PTT switches, selecting RADIO
A headset boom microphone has multiple PTT switches for transmission. Selecting RADIO on the associated ACP will transmit on the selected transmitter. A MIC PTT switch is located on the glareshield, as well as on the control wheel. Latching the ACP PTT to INT creates a hot mic over the flight interphone.
What is the purpose of the PA hand mic on the aft electronics panel?
To make a Passenger Address.
Use of the PA handset bypasses the ACP and allows pilots to make a PA regardless of ACP selection.
What precautions, if any, should be taken when keying an HF radio on the ground?
Do not key the HF radio while the aircraft is being fueled/defueled. Injury to personnel or fire may result.
How is an incoming SELCAL indicated?
White call (C) light illuminates on the ACP and a chime sounds.
How are the MEDLINK headset jacks controlled?
Observer’s ACP (ACP3)
What is the purpose of the service interphone switch on the aft overhead panel?
Intercommunication between the Flight Deck, Flight Attendants, and Ground personnel.
External jacks are located at:
* External Power panel
* electronic equipment compartment
* fueling station, behind the access door on the right wing
* nose wheel well, on the forward wheel well wall
* right wheel well, on the forward wheel well fairing exterior
* left wheel well, on the forward wheel well faring exterior
* aft passenger cabin, on the ceiling above the aft Flight Attendant station
* APU service area
How are incoming calls from the passenger cabin handsets indicated?
Passenger Cabin (CABIN), a singletone chime sounds and a white call (C) light illuminates on the respective ACP transmitter switch.
Ground Call - Ground Crew (INT)
What does the GRD CALL switch do when pushed?
Sounds a horn in the nose wheel well while
What does the ATTEND switch do when pushed?
The Flight Attendants are called from the Flight Deck by pushing the ATTEND switch. This sounds a two-tone chime in the Passenger Cabin and illuminates both pink Master Call lights in the Passenger Cabin.
In what order of radio selection does the Communication System attempt data transmission?
VHF.
SATCOM
HF
