Q

What does selecting a radio transmitter switch do?

A

Transmitter selector switches are located on the forward part of each ACP. Transmitter selector switches illuminate when the respective transmitter is active. Only one transmitter may be selected at a time. A microphone is then used to transmit over the selected transmitter. Reception is enabled when a transmitter is selected, regardless of the position of the receiver switch below.

Q

What is the purpose of the ALT-NORM switch on the ACP?

A

Allows selection of ALT - Degraded mode if ACP malfunctions

ACP transmitter selectors are not functional. The receiver selectors are not functional and only the usable radio is heard at a preset volume, through the headset. The following is also inhibited:
* the speaker and speaker switch
* flight interphone and service interphone
* control wheel PTT and ACP PTT in the INT position
* the hand microphone
* audio warnings for altitude alerts, GPWS, and windshear
* the PA system through the ACP

Q

What is the indication of a radio failure?

A

FAIL

The RTP continuously monitors the condition of the transceiver. If the transceiver has failed, the two frequency indicators show FAIL. This indicates a failed radio.

NOTE: The selected frequencies may continue to be displayed in the Frequency Indicator when the radio is not available.

Q

Which switch is used to key transmission over the selected transmitter?

A

PTT switches, selecting RADIO

A headset boom microphone has multiple PTT switches for transmission. Selecting RADIO on the associated ACP will transmit on the selected transmitter. A MIC PTT switch is located on the glareshield, as well as on the control wheel. Latching the ACP PTT to INT creates a hot mic over the flight interphone.
