Matthew 10:9-15

“Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts—no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave. As you enter the home, give it your greeting. If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.”

-Jesus teaches His disciples to travel simply, without luxury or excess.
-The message: don’t try to appear better than others when spreading the Gospel; carry yourself humbly like Jesus.
-Surround yourself with good people who can offer support and protection in your journey.
-Jesus prioritizes simplicity and honor over material wealth or status.

Matthew 10:22

“You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

-Following Jesus can be hard, and you will face hatred for your faith.
-This isn’t a possibility—it’s a certainty.
-Don’t be afraid of opposition; stand firm in your belief.
-Like Jesus, you may face hatred, but continue to love those who oppose you and guide those who love you.

A student and his master

Matthew 10:24-25

A

“The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!”

-Jesus is saying that His disciples will face the same challenges He did.
-They won’t be greater than Him, but will experience similar suffering.
-Just like Jesus, you may be falsely accused or misunderstood.
-Our goal is to be like Jesus, though we will never be perfect.

The fear of the One who can destroy both body and soul

Matthew 10:8
Luke 12:4-5

“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

-Don’t fear people who can harm your body your soul is far more important.
-The only one to fear is God, who has the power over both life and eternity.
-Trust in God’s sovereignty, as He holds ultimate control over your life and destiny.
-Fear and respect God above all else.

“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.”

-Acknowledge Jesus publicly in both your words and actions.
-Jesus should always be the first one you give thanks to—above anyone else.
-Never disown Jesus; He is the one who gives you life and blessings.
-If you deny Jesus, He will deny you before the Father, as seen in the example of King Herod in Acts 12:21-23.

-To gain the life you were meant for, you must give up the life you want, following Jesus fully.

The father knowing the Son and vice versa

Matthew 11:27

“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

-The only way to know the Father in Heaven is through Jesus Christ.
-Jesus has the authority to reveal the Father to us.
-Everything we have, good or bad, is part of God’s plan and is given to us by God the Father.
-Even difficult moments, like a setback, may have been orchestrated by God for a greater purpose in our lives.
-Jesus is the only way to access the Father; seek and follow Him for comfort and guidance.

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

-Jesus promises rest for the weary; He is there when you’re stressed or overwhelmed.
-Even when things seem chaotic, Jesus reminds us that everything is according to God’s plan.
-We should seek rest and peace in quiet time with Him.
-Jesus is a perfect teacher who shows us the way, always supporting us along the journey.
-He is gentle and humble, qualities that should shape our character.
-Jesus never turns away anyone who seeks Him, and He carries the burden for us—making our journey lighter.

Whoever isn’t with Jesus, blasphemy agaisnt the Holy Spirit

Matthew 12:30-32

“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.” (Matthew 12:30-32)

Following Jesus is a clear choice: fully commit or not at all. Every part of your life should reflect His presence. Remember, when you forget to acknowledge Jesus, you often feel uneasy. If you’re not ready for this Christian journey, reconsider your commitment. Don’t undermine God’s power or the Holy Spirit.

Seed on Rocky ground… short time

Matthew 13:20-21

A

“The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time.” (Matthew 13:20-21)

You may be excited about following Jesus but lack strong roots in Scripture, causing your faith to be temporary. Make sure you’re grounded in the Word daily. Don’t let your joy for God fade; stay consistent in reading and learning from Him.

Seed on good soil

Matthew 13:23

A

“But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” (Matthew 13:23)

Strive to be the good soil. Take time daily to understand and live out God’s Word. Set aside 15-20 minutes each day for quiet time with God. Don’t focus on past mistakes, but look forward to growing stronger in your faith through consistent reading of Scripture.
