Mathematics Flashcards
What is the a another way of saying Arithmetic Sequence?
Arithmetic Progression
What are the two fixed progressions?
Arithmetic and Geometric Progression
Name all of the sequences and progressions.
Arithmetic, Geometric, Fibonacci and Harmonic Sequences.
What is the fraction sequence? {I made that up}
It is the Harmonic Sequence.
What do you have to do in the Fibonacci Sequence?
You have to multiply with each other.
What is the formula for Arithmetic Progression? (AP)
- nth term of an AP: a + (n - 1)d
What is the formula for Geometric Progression? (GP)
- nth term of a GP: a*r^(n-1).
= * multiply
= arrow is for the exponents
What are these letter symbolise? ( a, n, d)
- a is the first term of the sequence
- n is the position of the term that we want to find
- d is the common difference between any two consecutive terms
What is the function of Un in the Arithmetic Progression (AP)?
Un (e) = - value of the term that is in the nth position of the sequence.
What is the ‘‘r’’ in GP?
- r is the common ratio of the between two consecutive term in the sequence.
What do I have to do in THE Geometric Progression?
You have to multiply* by a fixed number.
What is the radical sign?
√ the symbol that’s used for symbolising square root.
What is a Coefficient?
a number or an alphabet that is multiplied by a variable of a single term or the terms of a polynomial.
What is Radicand?
- is the number in the Radical sign.
What are the Rules for the Radical Expressions?
Rule 1: ^n√x^n = x
Rule 2: ^n√xy = ^n√x * ^n√y
