Math Culminating Flashcards
In Solving Systems of Equations, we can solve problems with x and y as if x=0, and then, y=0.
What is the Density Property?
A set has the density property if, between any two numbers of that set, there is another number that is also part of that set.
The set of rational numbers has the density property, and they set of natural numbers does not
1/ (a very small number) is approaching BLANK
This value is becoming greater and greater. Therefore, it is approaching infinty
1/(very large number) is approaching BLANK
It is approaching zero
How many rational numbers are between 0 and 1?
An infinite amount of rational numbers
What is the difference between an irrational and a rational number?
Rational numbers
- can be written as fractions in which the numerator and denominator are integers.
- in decimal form, the decimal terminates and/or repeats
Irrational numbers:
- cannot be expressed as a fraction
- in decimal form, the decimal does not terminate or repeat
We could also write (an very large number) as BLANK
Infinity
What is the difference between a Rate and a Unit Rate?
Rate: a comparison between 2 different quantities with DIFFERENT units of measure
Unit Rate: a comparison between 2 different quantities with 2 different units to A SINGLE thing.
What is the difference between a Ratio and a Proportion?
Ratio: a comparison of two or more quantities that indicates their sizes in relation to one another. SAME UNIT OF MEASURE
A Proportion: a statement that 2 or more RATIOS are EQUAL
What is the difference between the ‘e symbol’ and the ‘c symbol’
The e symbol is to show that one number is an element or part of a set
The c symbol is to show that a subset of numbers belongs to a parent set
What does it mean to be vertically stretched?
More STEEP
Ex: y= 2x
This is a vertical stretch of 2 units
The greater the slope, the greater the steepness of the line
What do we know when the slope goes from it’s positive form to it’s negative form?
It is a reflection in the x axis
