Math Flashcards
read what the qn is asking
plz!!
when doing ratio questions,
write a fraction, then CROSS MULTIPLY to get equations!!!
distance formula
SQRT (x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2
when doing unit conversions with area,
convert each SIDE length, not the total area!!
don’t skip right past Quantity A and B qns,
think not only of positive numbers, but also negative or smth!
don’t rush through question, CHECK each part of answer!!1
PLEASE!
interquartile range from a set of numbers
you first divide the data set in half, then the range is the median of the larger half minus the lower half.
when doing coin qns
make a CHART TABLE THING
for simultaneous work eqn
figure out how much per HOUR per person, then add times, then use that addition (flip it) and its the total time per one job!!!
when doing age questions
watch what the qn be asking
- don’t forget to MULTIPLY by years added in brackets
increasing rate qns
designate the two rates as two different variables. do final/initial ratio, and calculate percent after that
change in amount consumed qns
set up a rate of normal consumption, and change the rates to match equation, then solve!
life of tank= total amount/ rate consumed
compound interest
remember that the exponent is the amount of TIME times the times COMPOUNDED
ex. 2 percent per month, for 10 years
(1+0.02/12)^12 x 10
*** not 0.02 times 10!!!
ANY odd product is a multiple of
ODD PRODUCTS
two cars driving towards each other
When two people are driving towards each other… calculate the total distance, and the time it takes them to find the RATE OF DISTANCE SHRINKING per hour. That’s the SUM of the velocities of the two cars
ex. driving at speed 50 and 60kmph
then do 50t + 60t = distance
*** use D=RT!!!
