Materials Requirement Planning Flashcards
Demand for components derived from the plan for production of finished goods.
dependent demand
The activity that determines the plans for purchasing and production of dependent-demand components.
material requirements planning (MRP)
The anticipated build schedule stating which end items are to be produced, when, and in what quantities for the next 12 weeks or so.
master production schedule (MPS)
The sum of the lead times that sequential phases of a process require, from ordering components to completion of final assembly.
cumulative lead time
A listing of all of the components (raw materials, parts, and subassemblies) needed to produce one unit of a product.
bill of materials (BOM)
A hierarchical diagram of the components needed to assemble a product.
product structure tree
Also called a pseudo bill or a kit, is a combination of several BOMs.
planning bill
A type of planning bill that is arranged in product modules or options.
modular bill
Also called a transient bill, is for an item that is usually not kept in inventory.
phantom bill
The demand for an item during a time period.
gross requirement
Open order scheduled to arrive from a vendor or shop floor.
scheduled receipt
Expected amount of inventory that will be on hand at the beginning of a time period.
projected on-hand
The actual amount needed in a time period.
net requirement
Quantity planned to be received in the beginning of a period.
planned-order receipt
Quantity planned to be released (i.e., ordered) in the beginning of a period; that is, planned-order receipt offset by the lead time.
