A

Origin: Both heads originates from the sphenoid bone
Insertion: Lower head inserts in the mandible & upper head inserts capsule of the TMJ
Function: Protraction of the TMJ & Deviation of the mandible (lower head only)
Innervation: Mandibular Nerve
