What does the term anterior describe?
Frontside area,
What does the term posterior describe?
Backside area,
use a sentence to describe posterior and anterior.
The quadricpes are anterior to the hamstrings. the triceps are posterior to the biceps
What does the term deep describe?
Deep means beneath, or further inside.
What does the term superficial describe?
Closer towards the surface,
Use a sentence to describe deep and superificial.
The fascia is superficial to the bones, the muscles lie deeper than the skin.
What does the term medial mean?
Towards the midline, or is located closer to the midline
what does the term lateral mean?
Away from the midline, located further from the midline.
use a sentece to describe lateral and medial.
the arms are lateral to the chest.
What does the term superior mean?
Towards the head, or above another structure.
What does the term inferior` mean?
Inferior means closer to the feet, or below something
Use a sentence to describe inferior and superior .
The belly button lies inferior to the head. The chest is superior to the legs.
What does the term proximal mean?
Closer to the torso, /central core.
What does the term distal mean?
Further away from the centre of the body.
Use a sentance to decribe proximal and distol.
the humerus bone is proximal to the torso than the fingers.
What plane of motion is the sagital plane.
Vertical split, right down left and right, a one sided lunge moves in the sagital plane.
What plane of motion is coronal / frontal plane.
Splits anterior and posterior, combined bicep curl mvoes in the frontal plane.
What plane of motion is the transverse/ horizontal plane?
transverse / horizontal plane - splits upper and lower body (superior and inferiorly), involves rotational motions
