Massage Flashcards

1
Q

Physiologic effects of massage 4

A
  1. Decrease pain via gate control, release endorphins, remove proinflammatory chemicals
  2. Increase vasodilation
  3. Improve lymphatic flow. mechanically move fluids and metabolic waste out of interstitial space and into lymphatic system
  4. Mechanical effects- increase length of soft tissue (scars, muscle, fascia, tendon or ligament). break up adhesions. promote remodeling of collagen fibers
