The changes she made meant that Protestants would be killed for supporting their religion.
What happened before Mary’s reign that was so significant to the country?
Edward VI was a terrible monarch. He was hated by many and caused many rebellion and protests. People didn’t want to support the monarch.
What were some problems Elizabeth faced?
Religion, marriage, starvation/poverty or the Spanish Armada.
Which major event happened in 1559? Why was it so important?
The Act of Supremacy. This meant that Catholics could believe the Pope was the Head of the Church yet the country would still revolve around Protestantism. Everybody was happy.
When did Elizabth become queen?
She became the momarch in 1558.
Why were so many plots to assassinate Elizabeth made?
So they could replace her with Mary, Queen of Scots.
How did Elizabeth deal with the plots against her?
She imprisoned Mary. If the plots were threatening to Elizabeth’s throne, she will have to execute Mary before they free her.
What was Elizabeth’s ‘middle way’?
It was a compromise to solve the problems that were happening during that time. She would have to make sure everyone is satisfied.
What image was Elizabeth given?
She was given the image that she was an incredibly wealthy and controlling person. It was a way to tell the people that Elizabeth was fit to be a monarch.
