Q

How can it be argued that there was a mid-Tudor crisis in regards to Mary’s foreign policy?

A
  • She lacked authority and control abroad; she was forced into war with Spain against France. She was effectively at war with the pope which shows the lack of political authority of her crown within their marriage.
  • Jan 1558 defeat; loss of Calais.
