Marxism Vs. Marxist-Leninism Ideology Flashcards
Proletariat Revolution
Marxism: Bourgeois overthrow autocracy to achieve Capitalism and would exploit workers. Workers develop revolutionary consciousness and overthrow bourgeois gov. = socialism
Marxist-Leninism: Skipped Bourgeois revolution and went straight to workers overthrowing autocracy = socialism
World Revolution
Marxism: World-wide socialist rev would start in highly industrialised country (e.g. Germany) and called for proletariat action = revolution key to socialism
Marxist-Leninism: World-wide socialist revolution occur in a backwards country during a war = revolution key to socialism
Securing Revolution
Marxism: after revolution, needed a Dictatorship of the Proletariat (workers govern w strict control to remove non-socialists)
Marxist-Leninism: Dictatorship of the Proletariat needed but actually when in power he gave control to Bolsheviks (could be argued needed strong control to achieve D of the P) & other socialists treated as enemies
Socialist Government
Marxism: Gov in the hands of the people & democracy with the introduction of universal suffrage would be first task of the proletariat
Marxist-Leninism: democratic-centralism established early on (not complete Marxism) and then would listen to the people after they were in power
(democratic-centralism meant no voting as in time of war and needed things to happen quickly)
Economy
Both believed means of production should be owned equally by whole community
Society
Both believed classless society was the key to Communism (once enemies of socialism were defeated)
