Manual Muscle Testing Flashcards
Pronator teres and quadratus test
Pt supine or sitting
Elbow stabilized against pt so that they don’t abd shoulder
Elbow partially flexed, forearm pronated
Force is pulling them out of pronation
Innervation of pronator teres
Median (C6,7)
Innervation of pronator quadratus
Median (C6,7)
Ant int?
Supinator test
Pt in hooklying
90 elbow flex and humeral add (biceps and supinator)
To isolate supinator:
shorten biceps by putting patient into max shoulder and elbow flex
Force into pronation
Innervation of supinator
Radial (C5,6,7)
Biceps Brachii test
Pt sitting
Elbow flexed anywhere from 75-90
Humerus adducted, forearm supinated
Force into elbow ext
Biceps Brachii innervation
Musculocutaneous (C5,6)
Brachialis test
Pt sitting
Elbow flexed and max pronation
Stab humerus in add
Force into elbow ext
Innervation of brachialis
Musculocutaneous (C5,6)
Triceps Brachii Test
Pt supine if able with shoulder flexed? and a little out of full elbow ext
Can also go prone with arm out and a little less than full ext
Innervation of triceps brachii
Radial (C6,7,8, T1)
Anconeus Test
Elbow extension and stabilization
Anconeus innervation
Radial (C5,6)
Brachioradialis Test
Forearm in neutral with elbow flexed
Force into elbow ext
Brachioradialis Inenrvation
Radial (C5,6)
