Manual Interventions for Cervical Spine Flashcards
Basically we can mobilize/manipulate the spine in how many directions?
side glide side bending rotation traction neutral
BOUNCE PASS WITH BASKETBALL
Palpation: Coupled Ipsilateral Lateral Flexion, Contralateral Rotation & Anterior Sagittal Glide
Vertebral Basilar Insufficiency VBI test
end range rotation without extension hold 10 secs, return to neutral for 10 seconds, other side for 10 seconds. Dizziness, diplopia, dysarthria, drop attacks, nausea and nystagmus
Clincal prediction rule for patients with neck pain likely to benefit from TJM to Cspine
symptom duration less than 38 days,
positive expectation that manipulation will help,
side-to-side difference in cervical rotation range of motion of 10° or greater, and
pain with posteroanterior spring testing of the middle cervical spine) was identified.
Canadian C-Spine Rules for acute trauma patients
- Are they cognitively intact?
- Are they under 65 y/o?
- They can move more than 45d rotation (even if it causes pain)
- No crazy injury circumstances (distraction/high speeds, etc)?
- No Pain at rest in midline?
- No paresthesia in arms following trauma

● Craniocervical flexion test
● Deep flexor endurance test
