  • Recognise and confirm
  • Disengage autopilot and autothrottle
  • Roll in shortest direction to wings level
  • Apply nose up elevator
  • Apply nose up trim, if required
  • Adjust thrust and drag as required

Upset Recovery - Nose High

A
  • Recognise and confirm the situation
  • Disengage the autopilot and autothrottle
  • Apply as much as full nose down elevator and appropriate nose down stabiliser trim
  • Reduce thrust
  • Roll to obtain nose down pitch rate
  • When approaching horizon, roll wings level
  • Check airspeed and thrust
  • Establish pitch attitude

GPWS Warning

A
  • Disengage the autopilot and autothrottle
  • Aggressively apply maximum thrust
  • Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate to an initial pitch attitude of 20 degrees
  • Retract speedbrakes
  • If terrain remains a threat continue rotation up to pitch limit indicator or stick shaker
  • Do not change gear or flap configuration until terrain separation is assured
  • Monitor radio altimeter for terrain separation
  • When clear of terrain, slowly decrease pitch and accelerate

A

• Simultaneously close the thrust levers, disengage the autothrottles and apply maximum brakes or monitor RTO autobrakes
• Raise SPEED BRAKE lever
• Apply reverse thrust up to maximum consistent with conditions
• Call out 60kt
• Communicate with tower and cabin
“Attention, all passengers remain seated and await further instructions”

  • Monitor vertical speed and altitude
