What is current company policy with regard to GPWS within OMA ?

A

8.13.2.a GPWS Warnings
GPWS warnings must never be ignored.

Below MSA:

In the event of a GPWS Warning the Pilot Flying shall immediately execute the fleet-specific GPWS Pull-up manoeuvre.

The aircraft will be climbed until known to be clear of terrain or MSA as appropriate.

Inform ATC as soon as practical.

A GPWS Warning can be treated as a caution (see 8.13.2.b below) if all of the following conditions are satisfied:

i.
Daylight.

ii.
VMC.

iii.
It is immediately obvious to the flight crew that the aircraft is in no danger in respect of its configuration, proximity to terrain or its current flight path.

Positively Confirmed as Being Above MSA:

Treat the Warning as a Caution.

What are the GPWS PULL UP actions for PF ?

A

Call “PULL UP GO-AROUND”.
Disengage autopilot.
Disconnect autothrottle.
Aggressively apply maximum* thrust.
Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate to an initial pitch attitude of 20°.
Retract speedbrakes.
If terrain remains a threat, continue rotation up to the pitch limit indicator or stick shaker or initial buffet.
Verify maximum* thrust.
Verify all required actions have been completed and call out any omissions.
Do not change gear or flap configuration until terrain separation is assured.
Monitor radio altimeter for sustained or increasing terrain separation.
When clear of the terrain, slowly decrease pitch attitude and accelerate towards cursor speed. Continue with normal takeoff or go-around procedures as required.

What are the GPWS PULL UP actions for PNF ?

A

Verify maximum* thrust.
Verify all required actions have been completed and call out any omissions.

Monitor vertical speed and altitude (radio altitude for terrain clearance and barometric altitude for a minimum safe altitude).
Call out any trend toward terrain contact.

A

“STOP”

PF - close TLS and AT OFF (2 clicks)

 - Hands off after closing thrust levers
 - Monitor AB - look for light
 - (be ready to take over manual brakes)
 - At 60kts call reverse idle
 - At about 10 kts turn if applicable

PNF.

  -  Cancel (Fire) warning
  -  full reverse (idle)
  " SPEEDBRAKES up REVERSERS normal"
  - call 60kts
