Maneuvers Flashcards

1
Q

MAN: APPROACH TO STALL OR STALL RECOVERY

A

PF

Initiate recovery:

  • hold control column firmly
  • Disconnect autopilot and autothrottle
  • Smoothly apply nose down elevator to stop buffet/stick shaker (stab trim may be required)

Continue recovery:

  • Roll in sortest direction to wings level
  • Advance thrust levers
  • Retract speedbrakes
  • Do not change gear or flap config except during liftoff - if flaps are up, call for f1

Complete recovery:

  • check airspeed and adjust thrust
  • Establish pitch attitude
  • return to desired flight path
  • re-engage autopilot/autothrottle if desired

Q

MAN: GPWS WARNING

A

PF

  • Disconnect autopilot
  • Disconnect autothrottle
  • Aggressively apply maximum thrust
  • Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate to an initial pitch attitude of 20°
  • Retract speedbrakes
  • If terrain remains a threat, continue rotation up to the pitch limit indicator or stick shaker or initial buffet.
  • Do not change gear or flap config until terrain separation is assured
  • Monitor radio altimeter for sustained or increasing terrain separation
  • When clear of terrain, slowly decrease pitch attitude and accelerate

Q

MAN: RA in landing configuration

A

PF

  • Disengage autopilot
  • Disengage autothrottle
  • advance thrust to maximum
  • Call for f15
  • Smoothly adjust pitch to satisfy the RA
  • Follow planned lateral flight path unless visual contact with conflict requires other action
  • Verify positive rate of climb, call GEAR UP

Attempt to establish visual contact. Call out any conflicting traffic.

Q

MAN: Nose high recovery

A

Recognise and confirm developing situation

PF

  • Disengage autopilot
  • Disengage autothrottle

Recover:

  • Apply nose-down elevator. Apply as much elevator as needed to obtain a nose down pitch rate
  • Apply appropriate nose down stab trim
  • Reduce thrust
  • Roll to obtain a nose down pitch rate

Complete:

  • When approaching the horizon, rill to wings level
  • Check airspeed and adjust thrust
  • Establish pitch attitude

PM - call attitude, airspeed, alt throughout. Verify all actions are complete and call out any continued deviation.

Q

MAN: Nose low recovery

A

Recognise and confirm developing situation

PF

  • Disengage autopilot
  • Disengage autothrottle

Recover:

  • Recover from stall if needed
  • Roll in shortest direction to wings level. If bank angle is more than 90°, unload and roll

Complete:

  • Apply nose up elevator
  • Apply nose up trim, if needed
  • Adjust thrust and drag, if needed

PM - call attitude, airspeed, alt throughout. Verify all actions are complete and call out any continued deviation.

Q

MAN: Windshear Escape Maneuver

A

PF

__Manual Flight:

  • Disconnect autopilot
  • Push TO/GA
  • Aggressively apply max thrust
  • Disconnect autothrottle
  • Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate towards an initial putch attitude of 15°
  • Retract speedbrakes
  • Follow flight director TO/GA guidance (if available)

Automatic flight:

  • Push either TO/GA switch
  • Verify TO/GA mode annunciation
  • Verify GA thrust
  • Retract speedbrakes
  • Monitor system performance

Manual or automatic:

  • Do not change flap or gear configuration until windshear is not longer a factor
  • Monitor vertical speed and altitude
  • Do not attempt to regain lost airspeed until windshear is no longer a factor
