What comes next?
Wing initiates integrity check (CPSTFALL) and gives thumb up. Holds it till Lead drops his.
Lining up on runway
Execute lineup checklist as you get lined up on each side. Wing aligns edge of wing to tail of lead.
Lead passes “Run up” signal
Engine run up to 30%, instruments checked.
Wing gives thumbs up to signal integrity check good.
Lead - returns thumbs up, and gives kiss off signal.
Running Rendezvous
Lead: Out of pattern, Set power to 80%, climb at 160. No more than 30AOB
Wing: Max power, place lead slightly above horizon. Work in ABC’s.
Turn in
slightly reduce, slight nose down
normal checkpoints as parade
VMC Turn Away
Slightly add power, slight back stick
Rolling about your own longitudinal axis
IMC Turn Away
Power addition, slight nose up
Same checkpoints as parade.
Turning about Lead’s longitudinal axis
Underrun (Lead is Level)
Lower Idle Lateral
“LiL”
“11,12 Underrun”

Look at wing entire time.
Wing dip away for 20’ separation

Lead’s responsibilities in Cruise
Set 70% below 10k feet and maneuver predictably.
