Create a structured work environment
Have permanent polices in place
Have clear goals both daily and yearly
Have an efficient workflow system
Be consistent with the work schedule so staff know what to do each day
Clear roles for team members
Promote teamwork
Organise regular team meetings
Show your appreciation and reward staff, celebrate achievements
Team building activities inside and outside of work - build camaraderie
Less by example - be approachable, supportive, and willing to pitch in
Determine your goals
Set goals for the pharmacy team
Develop metrics to track performance
Set goals for employees both collectively and individually
Need to make it clear what the goals are to avoid frustration from employees
Communicate effectively
Miscommunication can lead to errors and confusion
Good communication promotes productively, efficiency, and cooperation
Hold catch up meetings
Everyone meet for 5 mins every morning to hear announcements
Don’t forget about people who work part time or have been off work
Delegate
Don’t micromanage
Need to let go of some responsibilities and pass to someone else
Trust competent members of staff with tasks
Effective delegation will reduce burn out
Training
So all employees know how to do their job they way they’re expected to
Builds confidence
Job satisfaction
Succession planning is to make sure staff are trained to step into new positions which might need filled in the future
Take breaks
If not able to take breaks there is something wrong operationally
Work load to staffing level ratio not right
Not taking any breaks increases the risk of errors
