Reusable Inventory Items
Items that can be appropriately decontaminated and disinfected for use repeatedly without damaging them.
This includes instruments. Hard-sided containers, and case carts, as examples.
Consumable Inventory
The supplies necessary for the SPD to function.
Such items include chemical indicators, disinfecting and sterilizing g chemicals, and detergents.
Assets
Valuable equipment and items the facility owns.
Material Management Department
Responsible for purchasing, ordering, and receiving items from outside manufacturers.
This department serves the entire facility.
Requisition System
The process that all departments use to request items from Materials Management.
Exchange Cart System
Entire supply carts are exchanged on departments for supply replenishment.
Case Cart System
Specific supplies and equipment are procured before a surgical procedure by using a predetermined pick sheet to fill the order.
