What are the 2 methods of Recruitment?
Internal Recruitment - Involves appointing existing employees to new positions within the business - this includes promotion
External Recruitment - Involves appointing new employees from out-with the business. Jobs are advertised externally and anyone can apply.
What kind of tests are used in selection?
Aptitude Tests - Measures how a candidate can cope when faced with a business situation/problem
Attainment Tests - Consists of demonstrating skills
Intelligence Tests - Indication of basic numeracy, literacy and thinking skills.
Psychometric Tests - Examine personality of employee
Medical Tests - Such as airlines or the police service
Assessment Centres - Involvement in team building and interview.
What are the 3 types of Training and Development?
On the Job - Training is conducted at the employees normal place of work
Off the Job - Training is conducted at a different location from the normal place of work
Induction Training - Carried out in the workplace and is offered to new employees.
What are the different leadership styles?
Autocratic - Their way or no way but may me appropriate when there are deadlines to be met.
Democratic - Encourages independence and openness
Laissez-faire - Employees given more repsonibility,
What are the two types of Staff Motivation?
Financial Incentives - Salary, overtime, bonus, commission
Non-Financial Incentives - Holidays, training, team work, flexible working hours
