1) welcome patient
2) ask CC and really listen

1) 27 year old, pacific for emergency, sensitive to cold on upper right for 2 weeks
2) you should ask
- how old the filling is, when the pain occurs under what circumstances?
- do you have a regular dentist?
3) testing
- radiographs and cold test, tapping or pressing, pulp test for vitality, test teeth on other side
4) tell them what you propose to do next
- take out the filling
- get them numb and get to know them
5) refill with composite or put a temporary
6) tell them to be careful and come back
- may need root canal and crown later

4) ask how long its been out, primary or permanent?, what did you do with the tooth
- alveolar ridge atrophies if the tooth is out for long
- PDL still needs to be present
5) splint it with wire or thick fishing line (must not be too rigid)

2) swelling in gums and wanted antibiotics because he is moving
3) does it hurt?
4) broken tooth adjacent to it
- is the pulp exposed, and if so, is it dead
- necrotic pulp and the bacteria can accumulate at the bottom of apex => leak out the tooth
5) can still a gutta percha in it and find out the tooth it is from via radiograph
6) no antibiotics!!! do not prescribe
- can become resistant to antibiotics if you do it to tie it over
- mutant superbug infection
- antibiotics will not cure the tooth infection
- definitive dental care will (RCT)
