A

- pulps were exposed
- germ free animals had no disease, even through the rat chow was next to the pulp
- wild type had inflammation and pulp necrosis, abscesses, and death

what is a root canal

A

1) if the pulp is inflamed or infected, it needs to be removed
2) numb the tooth, isolate the tooth, open the crown, fluid is put in the canal to clean, and the canal is cleaned and shaped
- the canals are filled with GP
- then the temporary filling is placed for the dentist to fill it

bleaching

A

1) bleed under the skin and pigment gets into tooth
2) leave pulp tissue and RCT filling in the crown
3) use sodium perborate (wet makes hydrogen peroxide) and it lightens the tooth

apical surgery

1) if the GP is pushed out into the lesion
2) needs surgical removal from the outside, find the tip and remove the gp
- remove 3 mm of the root
- create class I cavity and a filling

- root canal is not working and isthmus is conenct all of them

alternatives to Rct

A

1) cannot do NOTHING if they are in pain
- extraction, implant, bridge
2) if you do not replace tooth, the tooth can tip into the spot or supraeruption
3) implant can lose 0.2 mm of bone every year
