- child is anxious but still cooperative
- treatment is straighforward
- treatment is not likely to damage childs attitude to Tx in future

A
- severe anxiety where child is not ready or willing to co-op
- treatment needed is too extensive or complex for maturity of child
- child is too young to understand how to use IS
- child cannot breath through nose - dont undestand or have medical or anatomical issues
