8 steps to TRAINING: (TLP)

A

PLAN TRAINING
1. Receive the Mission (conduct initial assessment, METT-TC, risk, other units, implied tasks, availability of training aids (TADSS), certifications, RFMSS (range), how long to plan?)
2. Issue a Warning Order (WARNORD, in timely manner)
3. Make a Tentative Plan (COA sketch and statement, War Game, Risk, LVC-G, CFFT (cover fire), EST (engagement skills), CCTT (close combat), CATS (combined arms), DSTS (dismounted soldier)
4. Initiate Movement (TADSS certifications, Vehicle load plans, Convoy training certifications, develop controls and make risk decisions)
PREPARE TRAINING
5. Conduct Reconnaissance (preferably on location)
6. Complete the Plan (finalize Mission Statement and Risk Assessment, prepare OPORD, OPFOR troop list, LDP, time for rehearsals)
7. Issue the Order (Training Schedules–updated in DTMS, Training Meetings, 1/3 - 2/3 rule, doesn’t have to be perfect)
EXECUTE TRAINING
8. Supervise and Refine (PCC, PCI, safety briefs, FRAGORDs, equipment accountability)
ASSESS TRAINING (AARs, TandEOs)
