Minimum Requirements for the Contents of a Pesticide Spill Kit
a. Absorbent material such as diatomaceous earth, sand or dirt.
b. Shovel.
c. Leak-proof barrel for disposal.
d. Detergent and water or chlorine bleach (do not use latter with organochlorines!).
e. Appropriate protective clothing includes rubber gloves, apron, boots, and goggles
Procedures for a Pesticide Spill Clean-up
a. In the event of a spill, the intent is to confine the pesticide.
b. Confine with adsorbent material such as diatomaceous earth, sand or dirt.
c. Shovel all contaminated material into a leak-proof barrel for disposal.
d. Treat contaminated surfaces with detergent and water or chlorine bleach (do not use latter
with organochlorines!).
e. Use appropriate protective clothing includes rubber gloves, apron, boots, and goggles.
