A type of undernutrition wherein there is a deficiency of energy intake for a longbperiod of time
Chronic energy deficiency
Results from consumption of inadequate fod for a prolonged period of time

Disproportion among essential nutrients with or without absolute lack of nutrients
Imbalance
Results from a lack of an individual nutrient
Specific deficiency
More than 110% of DBW but less than 120%
Overweight
More than 120% of dbw
Obesity
A chronic OEM characterized by looking old and skin and bones
Marasmus
Acute PEM characterized with muscle watsing, edema, large belly and infections
Kwashiorkor
Common nutritional deficiency characterized by severe depletionof iron which results to low hemoglobin concentration
Iron deficiency anemia
Common nutritional deficiency - poor thyroid hormone prduction which results to enlargement of the thyroid gland / goiter
