from neural crest cells - can end up in adrenal medulla or anywhere along sympathetic nervous chain

abdominal mass hepatomegaly
bone pain, limp (mets)
paraplegia, cervical lymph nodes, proptosis, periorbital bruising, skin nodules
hypertension
