Testes - Location, Structure, Function
Location: Suspended in the scrotum by the spermatic cord.
Structure: The testes are paired, ovoid organs. have a tough fibrous capsule containing a complex network of tubules.
Function: Site of spermatogenesis and they also produce androgens.
Scrotum - Location, Structure, Function
Location: Hangs posteroinferior to the penis on the lower abdominal wall
Structure: External outpouching of skin, fascia and muscle
Function: Holds the testes, epididymides + distal ends of the spermatic cord. Controls the temperature of the testes for optimum spermatogenesis.
Penis - Location, Structure, Function
Location: Located in the midline on the anterior aspect of pelvis?
Structure: Can be divided into 3 parts. The body of the penis contains 3 columns of erectile tissue.
Function: Male reproductive organ, and the outlet for urine and semen.
