Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH)
Signs and symptoms
Overproliferation of cells at inner portion of prostate
Commen in men >50 and increases with age
Problem when urinary flow is obstructed
Difficulty in initiating urination and /or completely emptying the bladder
Dysuria,nocturia, dribbling, urinary frequency,weak urine stream, or urinary or fecal incontinence
If severe can show hydronephrosis or pyelonephritis or pyelonephritis symptoms
Begin prostate hyperplasia (BPH) treatment
Prostatic massage and catherization
Avoid caffeine and alcohol
Medications to shrink prostate
Treatment: TURP also TUMP,TUVP
Prostate cancer signs and symptoms
Usually asymptomatic on diagnosis
If symptoms: urinary tract
Spreads to bones of spine or pelvis before discovered
Rare before age of 50 years old
Hip or back pain (advanced)
Screening:PSA (prostate -specific antigen ) blood test and DRE( digital recital exam )
Prostate cancer treatment
Surgery to remove prostate
Radiation/chemo
Hormonal therapies to limit prostatic growth of cells
